Dear reader,
Easter is just around the corner, bringing with it lunches, brunches, and a lovely sense of spring around the table.
With that in mind, we have gathered a little inspiration for how you can create an even more inviting spring table by mixing vintage pieces with modern tableware.
We've said it before, and we are happy to say it again: decorative plates work beautifully as both chargers and side plates. They add a sense of charm to the table and can easily be incorporated in a clean and understated way, even in more contemporary homes.
Above, for instance, you can see Rörstrand’s Mother’s Day plate from 1977 used as a charger on top of a simple white dinner plate.
... or here, where we have paired a Blue Flower dinner plate with a small Mother’s Day plate from Porsgrund, measuring 13 cm across. It creates a lovely balance between the elegant look of the Blue Flower plate and a subtle touch of spring and Easter. At the same time, the smaller plate can be used for little lemon wedges for fish, a couple of chocolate eggs, or other small bites and accompaniments.
(They are also available as Father’s Day plates, by the way.)
Here, a neutral dinner plate has been paired with a Gefle castle plate from 1951 featuring Ulriksdal Castle (part of a series with multiple swedish castles), along with a cake plate from Bing & Grøndahl’s classic Winter Aconite service.
Another option for an easter touch could be a dedicated Easter plate, such as this one from Porsgrund, which with its 18 cm diameter works beautifully as a lunch plate.
That vintage touch does not have to come from plates alone. It can just as easily come from a charming figurine on the table, a lovely spring-inspired tiered stand, a set of beautiful aquavit glasses, or other small details that help give the table its own sense of personality.

There is always something new happening at DPH Trading. Items are constantly arriving in our collection – from rare finds to small everyday favourites – and sometimes they find a new home before they even make it onto the website.
That is why we regularly share glimpses from the shop on Facebook and Instagram: newly arrived pieces, special offers, inspiration, and a little behind the scenes from our daily life as antique and design dealers.
If you would like to follow along, we would truly appreciate it. It helps us more than you might think, and it is the best way to discover many of the interesting pieces we come across. And it also makes it much more fun for the two of us in marketing to film and share all the beautiful things hidden throughout our collection.
